About Me

As a therapist, it is my goal to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to share your thoughts and experiences so that we can explore and help address your challenges. I have a long history as an educator, therapist, and university academic. It would be my honor and privilege to bring my professional training, breadth of experience, and a strong sense of empathy to bear in helping you. Together we will develop strategies and build resources to help you find your way.

Background

Due to my extensive background in counselling and special education, my passion lays in unpacking where you are and how to assist you in ways that are helpful to you. I am interested in equity for all humans, regardless of ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, gender, religious, or sexual orientation, or geographical locales as I look to highlight how to best support and empower you. My 25+ years as a volunteer director in non-profit agencies speaks to my commitment to supporting individuals and communities.

I draw from a variety of integrative therapeutic approaches depending on clients’ needs, including mindfulness-based, attachment, cognitive – behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, somatic approaches, dialectical behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance commitment therapy models. I incorporate a person centered, compassion focused, culturally sensitive, emotionally focused, interpersonal, strength based, and trauma focused approaches using a positive psychology lens.
